  • Use the W.H.O. building block framework to construct a list of stakeholders who should be invited to a meeting to explore the issue and possible interventions/strategies. How can value be added to the services provided?

Identify an issue confronting your organisation at the moment:

An issue confronting my organisation currently is the inability to keep up with recent technology and advancement in medical science and information. Technology has been disrupting the healthcare industry and we have been left behind in terms of technology (Davenport & Kalakota, 2019). There are lots of gaps being observed (Sheetz, Claflin, & Dimick, 2020). Most of the staff are unable to use certain machines and equipment to handle and operate with patients. Proposals are already in place to use robots in surgeries yet my institution still grapples with handling of certain equipment.

What implications might this have for the strategic direction of your organisation and consequently for the work that you do?

Implications this can have for the strategic direction of the organisation and consequently the work we do is that:

  • Patient safety is at stake here. Lack of proper technique and skills may lead to harming of the patients.
  • Leads to low self-esteem as colleagues are unable to handle certain machines and equipment
  • There is a lot of redundancy time wasting and inefficiency in handling patients
  • May lead to errors in judgement due to lack of know-how and skills

Use the W.H.O. building block framework to construct a list of stakeholders who should be invited to a meeting to explore the issue and possible interventions/strategies. How can value be added to the services provided?

These stakeholders include:

  • The CEO and CCO of the organisation
  • The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
  • The Divisional manager
  • The individual managers
  • Departmental leaders
  • One staff member from each unit which have been affected

It is important when discussing strategies/interventions that the WHO building blocks are covered (World Health Organisation, 2023). These are subject to:

  • Leadership and governance
  • Service delivery
  • Health system financing
  • Health workforce
  • Medical products, vaccines and technologies
  • Health information systems

Training and refresher courses should be conducted to help in bridging the gap between the healthcare personnel and the operational machines and equipment (Siyal, et al., 2019).
