Learning Outcomes:
LO1: Critically evaluate the main techniques suitable for the development of a research project.
LO3: Demonstrate a critical understanding and informed judgement of research design and methodological inquiry and aspects related to legal, ethical and social implications.
IntroductionAs an individual, you are required to study and prepare a detailed research project proposal using the Proposal Template. The topic/project chosen should be a project that you should but not necessarily do during your project study. A research proposal that is unrelated to your field of study will attract a Fail grade.
Initial PlanningPlease complete all the sections. Make sure that you have conducted a good and relevant literature review first. This requires studying and reading several conference and journal publications; this is quite a long process but will save you lots of time in the long run. Ensure you develop a focused review from the literature, that is to say you need to elaborate (critically analyse and evaluate) literature review findings towards the identification of an area for further investigation (problem need). In most cases, this constitutes a proposal as a way forward. Think carefully, of what the deliverables and outcomes are and hence, what are the tasks (objectives) someone needs to undertake in order to fulfil the project aim. Based on your review, you should be able to propose a methodological strategy that is relevant and applicable to your proposed study. Think also of how someone will evaluate and test the proposed study. It is important to emphasise that Coursework 2 involves you developing a proposal for a proposed project to do (i.e. study, implement and manifest) at a subsequent semester.
Full compliance with the Proposal template form
All sections must not exceed a 4-page limit
In Section 5, give a title of no more than 18 words
In Section 6, state clearly what is the aim of the study (what you are trying to achieve) and what are the objectives (what tasks you will undertake to achieve your aim)
In Section 7, prepare a focused literature review. This should incorporate elaboration of findings (in the way described earlier) towards the problem need and proposed study. List 8-10 key references from conferences and/or journals and ensure these are cited within the section (you may wish to consistently use either Harvard or the Numeric referencing system)
In Section 8, detail the proposed techniques, tools and methodological steps (including testing and evaluation) to achieve your goals. Explain what the deliverables and outcomes will be.
In Section 9, detail the steps that have been taken and the proposed steps to be taken with reference to legal, ethical and social implications.
