BRIEF

Prepare a report (2,000 words) outlining the data analytic approaches, technology and tools, KPIs, and governance, ethics, and privacy concerns you will use to implement a Big Data initiative.

ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS

For this assignment, you will create a report outlining the different data analytics approaches you would use to solve the business problem or make the business decision you identified in Assignment 1.

Next, you will identify what KPIs you will use to measure and for reporting purposes. Then, you will identify what technology and tools you suggest for implementation and what reporting measures you will use. Lastly, you will identify several key governance, privacy, or ethical concerns that might arise during your Big Data initiative. You may organise your report in a manner that best describes your thinking. However, you should include the following criteria:

1. Recap Business Initiative

1. Briefly describe the Big Data initiative you identified in Assignment 1. What business problem will this plan address? What business decision will the proposed data analysis help make?

2. Data Analytics

1. Identify and explain what data analytics you will select to accomplish your business initiative. You should include a brief explanation of your selection and any specifics and explain what benefits you will receive or why you have selected it.
2. Consider any models, concepts, or past business results discussed in the chapters or readings to strengthen your analysis. You may consider:
   • What analytic forms you will use
   • How you will use descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive.
   • What business intelligence will you use?
   • Will data mining be used? What techniques might you use?
   • Will you incorporate any AI, machine learning, deep learning or neural networks?
   • Any other analytics you have identified in your research.

3. KPIs

1. Select what key KPIs you will use for measuring and reporting purposes. Your KPIs should align with the business solution or problem you have identified.
   • Identify what KPIs you will use and why you have selected them. Your KPIs should focus on the following four areas:
   • Customer Satisfaction
   • Internal Process Quality
   • Employee Satisfaction
   • Financial Performance Index
2. Determine your measurement frequency and reporting frequency
3. Identify who will have ownership of the KPIs
4. Provide a brief description of how you will communicate your KPIs

4. Technology and Tools

1. Suggest the basic technologies and tools you might use to conduct your data collection, data analysis, visualisation, and implementation. Note you are not required to identify specific technologies or tools. Suggestions may be high-level and broad.
2. Include any concepts or research to support your recommendations. You may want to include:
   • How will you manage your data storage?
   • How will you analyse and process your data?
   • How will you provide access to your data?
   • What analytic tools you will use?

5. Data Visualisation and Reporting

1. Identify what visualisation methods and types you will use to communicate the outcomes and results of your analysis.
2. What type of visualisation tools might you use?

6. Data Governance, Privacy, & Ethics

1. Describe two or three challenges or issues you may face concerning data privacy, governance or ethical guidelines.
2. For each challenge or issue listed, include a recommendation on what the organisation might do to address or solve the challenge. Consider using the theories, models, or concepts discussed in the chapters, your readings, or your research to strengthen your recommendations.
