Format:Students may wish to use the following structure in preparing their literature review:
Title (10 words)
Introduction (approximately 100 words)
The health status of [insert your chosen population] (approximately 200 words)
Social determinants and their influence on the health outcomes of [insert your chosen
population] (approximately 350 words)

Assessments need to be submitted in Microsoft Word Format.
The first step for completing this assessment is to:
1) Identify a specific population group in Australia that experiences adverse health outcomes (for example: Homeless people)
AND
2) Identify two social determinants that influence the health status of your identified population group (for example: social exclusion and restricted finances)
Imagine you are a Policy Officer within the Department of Health. The Federal Minister for Health has requested information on your specified population (1) and the two key social determinants you have identified (2). The Minister believes that they, and their staff, are not adequately acquainted with the current health status of this population group and how the key social factors you have identified impact their health status. They also want to better understand how these two determinants intersect with each other.
You have been requested to provide a review of literature (1200 words) that addresses the following:
A) What is the current health status of your specified population?
B) How do the social determinants you identify influence the health outcomes of this population?
C) How do these social determinants interact with each other to impact health outcomes in this population?
The literature review should:
(i) synthesise the evidence on the population,
(ii) provide a brief argument about the significance of your identified social determinants on the health of the population (supported by evidence), and
(iii) a discussion of the relationship between them.
For this assessment, you are NOT required to provide recommendations about how the Minister might address any issues you identify.
