THE BRIEF

This is a formative assessment that contributes to CIF-601. Any work completed in this module can be redrafted and developed using the feedback to be submitted for CIF-601 in the following term.

No numerical grade is given for this module. You will receive a complete or incomplete mark based on the submission status and whether work has been completed. You will receive detailed feedback to support the development of your subsequent Critical Review submission.

You must submit:



  • A Research proposal (Week 6)

  • A ?rst draft of their literature review (Week 12)



Week 6 - Research Proposal Submission

In week 6 students must submit a research proposal This should include your research question, a brief overview, proposed methodology and a short bibliography with an appropriate number of key texts (300-500 words).

Consider using the following framework:



  • Title of research project - this is the title that you have given your This can be the same as the research question but can be more descriptive.

  • Research Question - what you are trying to ?nd

  • Brief overview of ?eld and research area - background information about the subject and research area (context)

  • Proposed Methodology - how you are planning to approach the question

  • Preliminary bibliography with at least ten key texts



Week 12 - Draft Literature Review Submission

The ?nal submission of this module requires students to complete a ?rst draft of their literature review (1500-2000 words). This should present a clear and concise engagement with the existing literature related to your research area, laying the intellectual, conceptual and/or theoretical foundations for the research. This submission should be well cited, include an accompanying reference list, and your central argument should progress across clearly delineated thematic
