Introduction

I remember an experience while I was a nursing student (Alsalamah et al., 2022). I saw that the clinical educator was experiencing some difficulty in caring for a patient. The patient was suffering from severe chest pain and the nurse was not able to comfort the patient. I thought that I must assist the nurse by calling the nurse manager so that they can handle the situation in an effective manner.

Personal and professional reflection

I went to the nurse manager and called him to help the registered nurse handle the situation as the condition of the patient was getting worse. However, I missed telling the nurse manager that the patient was suffering from severe chest pain. The nurse manager immediately came with me and started assisting the registered nurse but he had no idea about the condition of the patient as I had missed telling him about the patient's condition and that is the reason he again had to rush toward his chamber so that he can bring the necessary equipment which are needed to handle the situation. When the nurse manager went to bring the equipment that was necessary, he asked me to help the registered nurse by taking the vital signs so that it became easier to handle the situation and condition of the patient.

Evaluation

In order to enhance general nursing practice it is much more important to deliver individualized care to the patient and focus on teamwork (Jaastad et al., 2022). Also, it is important for nurses to use some interpersonal skills in order to ensure patient safety and smooth communication. In order to enhance the skills for acute care nursing skills it is very important to have the ability to collaborate with the health care team in order to utilize practices that are evidence-based in offering care. It is also important to add to therapies or medications with complicated protocols.

Strategies in practice

The nurses should be flexible to work at night, on holidays, and on weekends as well as on-call duty. It is also important for the nurses to be experts in handling the sophisticated equipment of medicine (Koshy et al., 2017). The important skills needed as an acute care nurse mainly include decision-making and critical thinking in urgent situations.

Enhancing patient care has become a priority for all of the providers of health care with the entire goal of achieving a high degree of satisfaction for patients. Greater awareness among the public maximizing demand for better care, more health care regulation, kinner competition as well and rising medical malpractice are considered as the factors that contribute to the change.
