ASSESSMENT OVERVIEW AND REQUIREMENTS
This assessment requires students to examine the differences between chronic illness / disease management and palliative care management from a person - centred perspective including symptom management.
Students are required to watch the six (6) videos following “Jane’s Story” as listed below to guide the construction of their case study report.
It is expected that students will undertake further research on the topic of ovarian cancer and its trajectory to complete this assessment. Analyse and discuss the differences between chronic illness / disease management and palliative care management from a person-centred perspective in relation to the illness trajectory based on the six (6) videos that you have viewed below which will guide your discussion.
This assessment is formatted as a case study report which allows the use headings. Evidence of research, reading and understanding must be demonstrated throughout the report using relevant references in APA 7th style. A minimum of 10 current and relevant (less than 5 years) references is required for this paper.
The case study report should include the following:
- A clear introduction
Includes a brief overview of the topic, a definition (in students’ own words), of what is meant by “person-centred care” in chronic /life limiting illness/disability, and an outline of the topic of discussion.
- The body
Provides an outline of the relevant symptoms, symptom management, multidisciplinary team involvement, treatments, and psychosocial supports in relation to both early stage and end stage ovarian cancer.
Compare and contrast the person-centred care that Jane would receive in the early stages of her chronic/ life limiting ovarian cancer, with the personcentred care she would receive in the palliative (end stage) of her disease using the videos and further in-depth research to formulate a discussion. - A conclusion
Summarizes the discussion undertaken and clearly demonstrates understanding of the differences between early and end stage ovarian cancer from a person-centred perspective.

Students must submit their completed paper into the relevant dropbox (in word document) along with a separate assessment coversheet.
Submissions should be presented as per assessment presentation requirements:
- Font size 12 Arial.
- Leave a 3cm margin on the left side of the page.
- Double space lines to allow space for teacher comments.
- Footer should include page numbers, Subject Code, Assessment Name and number, and SID.
- Include an assignment title page as the first page of the document.
- Work must be presented in Word format unless otherwise advised.
- Work submitted in PDF form will not be marked.
