Final Group Project
Final Group Project
Bike sharing systems are new generation of traditional bike rentals where whole process from membership, rental and return back has become automatic. Through these systems, user is able to easily rent a bike from a particular position and return back at another position. Currently, there are about over 500 bike-sharing programs around the world which is composed of over 500 thousands bicycles. Today, there exists great interest in these systems due to their important role in traffic, environmental and health issues.
Apart from interesting real world applications of bike sharing systems, the characteristics of data being generated by these systems make them attractive for the research. Opposed to other transport services such as bus or subway, the duration of travel, departure and arrival position is explicitly recorded in these systems. This feature turns bike sharing system into a virtual sensor network that can be used for sensing mobility in the city. Hence, it is expected that most of important events in the city could be detected via monitoring these data.
As a data analyst, your job is this:
1. Get access to the Bike sharing dataset available here - https://archive.ics.uci.edu/ml/datasets/bike+sharing+dataset 2. Analyze the data using exploratory data analysis to help the company understand the trends & patterns within the data, and how the company can use these to improve their offerings?
3. With the insights drawn from the data exploration, compare linear regression models against multiple time series models to help understand which models are best suited to the data?
4. Submit a comprehensive case study which outlines a business plan which combines actionable steps the company can take in the present and in the future to improve their planning process
5. As part of the submissions for the report, here are the following required submissions:
a. A pdf report which details the findings, insights and recommendations from the analysis carried out by the group. The report should cover all 3 fields of data analytics, descriptive, inquisitive & predictive insights.
b. A tableau dashboard which contains interactive visualizations to help illustrate the findings of the analysis
c. A 5-minutepresentationcreated by the team in which each member of the group has to present (>=1min). Thepresentationcan cover the tableau dashboard if the group deems that has enough information to help detail their case study, or they can choose to create PowerPoint slides as well.
submission due date : 13th Dec 11:59 pm
