This is two (2) of three (3) assessments you need to complete to be deemed competent in this unit. In this assessment you are to write a research report on a nursing topic that you would like to learn more about, and that will improve your practice, for full details, see Task Instructions below. This assessment will take place in your own time. |
Conditions of assessment |
This is an individual task. You are required to complete each step in the task in the template below and submit this completed document. All steps must be completed satisfactorily. If you do not complete a step in full, your assessor may ask to you provide more information. GOTAFE procedures: You will be required to complete an Assessment Cover Sheet and check the box on submission of your assessment declaring that the evidence provided is the product of your own work. This will support the authenticity of the evidence. No marks or grades are allocated for this assessment task. The task will be resulted as Satisfactory or Not Satisfactory. Feedback will be provided to you by your assessor via the Assessment Feedback to Learner form at the end of this assessment task. In this assessment you are to completeresearch activities and developactions based onyourresearchfindingsfor an issue that affects nursing in Australia.You must identify a situation where research will improve your own personal professional practice, so spend some time planning this research. The issue you choose for research must be relevant to the key topics under the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health care (National Safety and Quality in Healthcare Standards): clinical governance partnering prevention and controlling infections medication safety comprehensive care communicating for safety blood management and recognising and responding to acute deterioration You are to write a research report for the area of nursing that you choose to explore further, referencing at least three different, credible sources, not including the NSQHS) and submit your report following the format described in the following instructions. Your choice must have you exploring interventions that cansupport and improveyour nursing practice, and you must describe your objective with your assessorbeforecommencing your research.Once you havediscussed your chosen area of study, area of study, objectivesand research plan with your assessor, you can commence writing your report. Do not start your research plan until your topic has been approved by your assessor. Your research must reflect the Standards for Enrolled Nurses, particularly: Standard 8 Provides nursing care that is informed by research evidence Refers to the RN to guide decision-making. Seeks additional knowledge/information when presented with unfamiliar situations. Incorporates evidence for best practice as guided by the RN or other appropriate health professionals. Uses problem-solving incorporating logic, analysis and a sound argument when planning and providing care. Demonstrates analytical skills through accessing and evaluating healthcare information and quality improvement activities. Consults with the RN and other relevant health professionals and resources to improve current practice Standard 10: Engages in ongoing development of self as a professional Recognises the need for, and participates in, continuing professional and skills development in accordance with the NMBAs Continuous professional development registration standard. Identifies learning needs through critical reflection and consideration of evidence-based practice in consultation with the RNs and the multidisciplinary healthcare team. Academic quality standards that must be met for your report before submission (these are aligned to the standards that you would be expected to meet in the health industry if you were to be involved in any research): Font: 11 point Calibri, double spaced and left aligned. 2.5cm margins at either side of the page APA (American Psychological Association) referencing in text and at the end of the document visit https://apastyle.apa.org/ for guidance. APA format for all content, including: o title page o abstract o text o references o footnotes o tables o figures o appendices As this research must reflect industry standards, reports not submitted following this format will not be accepted for marking. Complete the following steps to write your research report. 1. Agree on a research topic and objective with your assessor, you will need to justify your selection based on your professional development requirements and current trends and events in the health care industry (linked to the NSQHS). 2.
