  • identify major challenges which may be positive and/or negative for a health/social care organization/service of your choice by using strategic management tools - Political, Economic, Social and Technological analysis (PEST analysis ) and Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats analysis (SWOT analysis)
  • propose strategies to meet positive challenges by using the results of your PEST analysis and SWOT analysis
  • describe the role management should play during the implementation of these proposed strategies in this organization/service.
• The report should be structured so that the arguments that students are aiming to make are well supported by theoretical concepts which they have learned in this module and literature or prior research on subject/topic area as well.

Example –Aim of the essay

The aim of this essay is to identify the major positive and negative challenges faced by one of the United Kingdom’s leading military charity, using strategic management tools. These tools will include Political, Economic, Social and Technological- PEST analysis and Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats analysis- SWOT analysis. The results of the PEST and SWOT analysis will then be used to formulate proposed strategies to address the positive challenges. This essay also aims to address the role of management during the implementation of these proposed strategies.

For the purpose of this essay the organization mentioned will be known as Charity A.

• Critically discuss PEST and SWOT tools and develop arguments for using them for the environmental analysis and formulation of strategies in your assignment.
