PART B: Final Research Report (40%) (1600 words + Tables, Figures, Reference list & Appendices)
PART B: Final Research Report (40%) (1600 words + Tables, Figures, Reference list & Appendices)
The final report demonstrates understanding of scientific processes and includes the methodological design, collected data and evaluation of the findings of the investigation based on evidence.
The completed report should include the following:
Topic : Celery experiment
Water Pollution
Introduction/ContextOutline the goals of the research project and link to a key environmental/sustainability issue. Ensure that this section is supported by quality research literature. Create a strong justification/rationale for your investigation.
Scientific ConceptsProvide a rich discussion of the scientific concepts/understandings relevant to the design and working of your investigation.
Research HypothesisDefine the hypothesis that underpinned the product design or process that was being tested. Remember: Hypothesesare potential answers to your research question, or parts of your research question that are supported by prior knowledge e.g. Fertilizers make plants grow more quickly.
VariablesList your independent, dependent and controlled variables.
MethodsDescribe the sequence of activities undertaken across the project (NB: write this in past tense). Provide evidence as appropriate (e.g., diagram/photographs).To keep within the word count, you can include any additional information regarding the method as an appendix (NB: make sure to note within the body of the report that the method is in the appendix).
FindingsPresent the data that has been collected and analysed. Use appropriate data presentation and analysis tools to match the data collected (e.g., tables and graphs). Follow scientific conventions in the presentation of your data.
DiscussionProvide an explanation of the meaning of the data that has been presented. Draw connections to the scientific concepts discussed and their outworking in the findings of the investigation. Discuss any limitations of the design/methodology. Include recommendations for realistic design improvements and plans for further action.
ConclusionOutline the significant findings of the project and implications for the environmental/sustainability issue in which the project is embedded.
