Project objectives 

Resource reservation protocol must be applied on defined paths for each kind of traffic. Multiple customer networks demand access to a core network that carries voice, video, and data between clients and ISP. Admission control must be applied to accept the RSVP request if there are available resources, otherwise, the request is rejected.

 Project requirements:

 1) Must design a proper network with three customers network and two ISP's network and one core network. 

2) Core network capability must be less than the overall customers’ demands. 

3) Find the best RSVP paths that minimized admission rejection actions. 

4) Compare network performance with and without network admission.

 

General Requirements for all projects 

For all these projects, the following requirements must be achieved: 

1) Use OMNeT++ simulator with INET framework to implement the required specification and simulate the network. 

2) This is an individual work project, each student must work alone. 

3) You must design a network with minimum of 10 routers, one data source host, and one destination host. 

4) The network topology must have multiple paths between source and destination. 

5) The links between routers must have a variety of speed with bandwidth limitations. Traffic demands must be more than the link capability. 

6) OSPF routing protocol must be configured and used on all routers. 

7) Three different types of applications (video, audio, and data) must be used to generate traffic across the network. 

8) All queues types must be bounded size fixed capacity. 

9) You must measure following metrics:

1) end to end delay,

2) queueing delay,

3) packets dropped,

4) packets send and received. 

10) You must show statistical output in clear diagrams that show the difference in network performance with and without QoS. 

11) You must explain and justify the output from types of traffic and QoS solutions. 

12) Your work must enhance network performance by applying QoS techniques. 

13) Your code and configuration on OMNet++ files ned, ini, and xml must be well organized and documented. 

14) A detailed technical report that explains the project implementation and results must be presented in addition to source code. 

15) A readme file must be in your project explaining all technical details, how to run the project and its components.
