CASE STUDY Scenario Continuing from Assessment Task 1 you are the Trainer and Assessor for the unit SITHCCC003 Prepare and present sandwiches. You are presented with two learners who will be attending your training program. 1. Todd Franklin, and 2. Jessica Smith You are required to analyse the ACSF Core skills for these two leaners: Learner 1: Todd Franklin Todd Franklin has recently left Year 10 because he wanted to do an apprenticeship to become a Chef as he loves cooking with his mum. Todd found it difficult to find an apprenticeship position after leaving school. He needs to find a job elsewhere until something comes along. Todds mum noticed there were a few position vacant signs at her local shops in the food court area and brought them to his attention. Todd approached a few of these places, however, didnt seem to have much success in gaining an interview. Todds mum decided it might be a good idea for Todd to enrol into a course that might assist him with learning some basic skills in hospitality. Prior to start of the course, Todd was required to complete an LLN quiz to assist his trainer (you) with determining any LLN learning needs. Upon completing the LLN quiz, it was identified that Todd may require some additional LLN support for him to achieve a desirable outcome with his learning. Please refer to Chart 2A for Todds LLN results. An LLN specialist has also provided you with the following information on how to work with Todd. The learner: Works well in a team when he has support from a mentor or peer Gets on well with peers and communicates easily with them in an informal way Reads simple texts only, e.g. safety signs Prefers not to write detailed responses Learner 2: Jessica Smith Jessica Smith has been out of the workforce for a number of years while she had been caring for her two children until they reached High School age. Now that her two children are in High School, Jessica felt that she would like to find a part-time job during schooling hours. Jessica sought some help through a local job agency to find out what she would need to do in order to find a job she would enjoy. Jessica loves to talk to people and felt that customer service would be a good pathway for her. A local carvery had advertised online a part-time position that would be perfect for her and after updating her resume, writing a short cover letter detailing her work history, skills and attributes, she applied for the job and was successful at her interview. Not long after she started in her new job, the owner realised that Jessica was great with his regular customers as well as efficient with taking and processing food orders. The owner decided that it would benefit Jessica to undertake some additional training. The owner has enrolled Jessica to attend a local hospitality training facility to ensure she is trained in all of the aspects of the job that she may encounter. Upon arriving at the course, Jessica and the others in the group were given a short LLN quiz. As well as the quiz, Jessica was invited to have a short one on one discussion with the trainer in order for the trainer to identify whether there may be some LLN requirements for Jessica. |
