Introduction
Accessibility and accommodations in public spaces is a significant matter of consideration under broad spectrum of disability that is closely linked to social work. Social workers play a crucial role in advocating for the rights of individuals with disabilities by promoting policies and regulations that ensure equal access to public spaces, providing support and education and addressing issues related to education, employment, housing and healthcare (Greed, 2019).
Relevance to Social Work
Social workers can advocate for the rights of individuals with disabilities by promoting the creation of policies and regulations that ensure equal access to public spaces (Johnstone & Edwards, 2020). They can also provide support to individuals with disabilities to help them navigate these spaces and educate the public about the challenges and needs of people with disabilities (Eskyte et al., 2020).
