Assignment Overview
The purpose of this assignment is to reflect on who you are as a learner and think about how your life experiences and people in your life have supported (or not supported) the teaching and learning process. This is how theories of learning developed when theorists wondered about the complex ways that learning takes place.
This assignment requires you to create a presentation thattells a storyabout your learning and makes some of these processes of learning visible. You can write and present this story in interesting and creative ways by using photographs, graphics or images such as one might choose when creating a picture book however this is not a story written for children, but of course, it could be about how a child or children learn.
This presentation can use a story that is either real or imagined. It should not be written like a report or essay. This means you can tell a story that reflects:
your experience with learning either formal or informal,
the learning experience of someone you know, or
you can make up a fictitious story that meets the key assignment criteria.
This means you have many options and this will suit some learners and others may find the open guidelines more challenging.
You can write the assignment from the perspective of the learner, teacher, both or from a third party like a narrator or imagined character.
These are your views, not those of others, however you are making links to the learning materials. A key part of this assignment is that the processes of learning are made visible and you identity how complex these processes are.
Be sure to articulate clearly who and what informs your views. These will include:
people around you such as current and former teachers,
people you know or your family,
literature about learning from the unit readings and learning materials,
your life experiences in both formal and informal educational settings.

Presentation
Create a presentation (you will not be actually presenting this).
Include the visual metaphor (image and ideas) that you developed in Week 1 in your presentation. Please label this clearly in your submission. Consider:
What does your drawing say about your beliefs about the learning process?
Where do these ideas come from?
Have your ideas changed since drawing your visual metaphor? If so why?
Develop a story that depicts your understanding and experience of learning and what is meant by learning theories. You do not need to use a particular learning theory, although you can if you choose, but rather show an understanding of what they are and their purpose in learning and therefore how they link to the practice of teaching.
Make sure your story highlights the links between learning and experience and also explains and illustrates how learning is a complex process.
Illustrate your story with professional images or graphic features as you will be assessed for how effectively these align with what your story is trying to communicate. Reference these with APA guidelines.
Write in the first person when speaking about your ideas, values and experiences.
Include a reference list with a minimum of six references in addition to illustrations.
