Reflecting back on this assignment it is now evident to myself the importance of being prepared and really taking the time to analyse what it is I need to know and do for this assignment.

Producing take off list:

In this section of the assignment I found myself being unsure on what items I had to list this is because I am still unfamiliar on how to read a plan and what certain items look like due to a lack of exposure to those items and a lack of knowledge.

I was navigating around the ANSZMM unconfidentally as I haven’t seen or read enough plans and I found myself asking myself questions such as “where is this item on the ANSZMM” “how much information do I need to put” and “is this the right section of ANSZMM that I am meant to be looking at”. However, after watching the tutorials on how to do it it had definetly helped to ease the confusion.

Measuring:

The measuring section of this assignment was definitely my least favourite thing to do as I already lack a knowledge of maths and calculations. It was hard to gain confidence to find exactly what I was measuring and the reason as to why these calculations had to be done.

Quries/ assumptions:

Due to already approaching this assignment with a significant amount of confusion, asking questions such as “what am I looking for”, “amI meant to add all the sides together”, “do I convert everything to meters”, “why am I finding the Volume and “do I have to find the area of the granny flat” was not difficult whatsoever. The reason as to why I had so many questions is due to perosnally not being prepared which in future I have learnt to be.

Producing BOQ:

Producing the bill of quantities is the most difficult section as I was asking myself questions similar to the questions I was asking when preparing the take off list and it was a struggle to find the answer.

After completing this assignment, although I did have a lot of questions and was confused I have comee to realise the importance of preparing myself for an assignment but I have gained knowledge on how to read a plan better, how to find an item and how to prepare a take off list, measurement sheet bill of quantities and a query sheet.
