Task Details:
Task description-
Before any learning or development interventions take place, a thorough analysis of the organisation, tasks and person must be conducted, identifying if any learning gaps exist. Using framework from Figure 3.1 (textbook Chapter 3) and 7S framework (lecture), this task requires you to follow the steps in the process of an effective training needs analysis (Chapter 3). This includes the topics from Chapter 1 (e.g., pressure points) and Chapter 2 (e.g., strategy and strategic HRD). Please select a job role (from any organisation from any country) for this assessment. It can be the role you are currently working in or have worked in the past or one of your friends/family members is currently working in. Collect relevant primary and/or secondary information from various sources pertaining to the organisation and its environment, the job (tasks involved and required KSAs), and the person (KSAs). You will make recommendations as to which learning needs should be met first.
Structure-
Here is the required structure (matches with the CRA).
Cover Page (title of assessment, your full name and word count - research reports that do not include a word count on the cover page will be assumed to be over the limit and may receive a 10% penalty)
1.0 Introduction (No marks; about 50 words). Provide the aim of the report.
2.0 Pressure Point(s) (6 marks; about 300 words) Identify and discuss 1-2 reason(s)/pressure points(s) for needs assessment (Chapter 1). These may include low performance, new technology, or change in strategy or structure or laws. Include citations. Use numbered sub-headings if needed.
3.0 Needs Assessment (15 marks; about 700 words) Analyse the need for training. Use numbered sub-headings as follows:
3.1 Organisation Analysis (see Chapter 2 & 3)
Organisation analysis helps to understand the context. Use 7S table for short phrases but an analysis should be done in a paragraph using citations. Words in the tables will be counted including the citations.
7S Current/previous state Future/ current state
Strategy Structure System Staffing Style Skills Shared value 3.2 Task Analysis and Person Analysis (see Chapter 3)
Select five tasks, with all five or most relevant to the pressure point. Note the tasks required KSAs and the persons current KSAs. Compare the task analysis and person analysis using the below table and identify the focal individuals current gaps in their knowledge (K), skills (S), and abilities (A). List the resultant training needs. Make assumptions where needed. Beyond the brief information presented in the table, you should discuss the gap analysis in a paragraph using citations.

Job Tasks Sub-Tasks (if needed) Required KSAs (task analysis) Current KSAs (person analysis) Training Needs
4.0 Recommendations (9 marks; about 450 words) Note the outcomes of your needs assessment (Chapter 3) in the form of 2-3 prioritised and justified recommendations to the senior management of the organisation. Make some connections to strategy. Use numbered sub-headings if needed. Include citations. No conclusion is needed.
