Hello everybody, the story which I am going to share with you is about inclusion. I belong to a small town. I was born with unique gift which is the capability to see and appreciate beauty in every individual ignoring the differences. As I grew up, I felt a powerful desire always to bring individual together. I always celebrated the differences. There were individual of each and every abili0ties, backgrounds and life walk in the town. Some people can see the entire world with eyes, while other people could see with hearts. My best friend was blind, however, she helped me to understand want vision actually means. With the help of my best friend, I have learned that each and every individual have some unique perspectives and talents which contribute to tapestry of humanity. We have shared the dreams, explored the entire world and played games together. I have created many memories with my best friend which will last for lifetime. As I grew up, I started to grow my passion for comprehending with inclusivity. I get engaged in the community projects which brought individual from every background. I have organised several cultural festivals, sport events and art exhibitions in order to promote diversity. I also wanted to promote diversity in my college. I worked with other people on various initiatives to make my college campus welcoming for each and every individual. I created space for people where they can felt valued and heard and I strived to make differences. I believed that every person has a unique role to play and we all can bring unique thread to the tapestry of life.
Thank you for listening to my story. I hope we all can make the entire world more harmonious and inclusive so that we can walk in the path of acceptance and unity.
Video 2 Transcript: Listen to a Story
The story that I have selected to listen is That's A Wrap by David Holowko. It is my pleasure to share with you all an extraordinary moment as I got deeply inspired to the David Holowkos story. I developed wide knowledge and understanding with regards to some vital themes such as inclusive practice, privilege, immigration and diversity. According to me, the story of David obtains a personal inclusivity values along with obtaining equal opportunities specifically for every person without considering their perceived abilities or background that I can effectively provide a reflection. Since the authors birth, he has been dealing with Down syndrome (Holowko, 2024). Still, the author does not accept the fact that this disability disorder can elaborate his nature or character. Rather than that, he gives major emphasis on his capabilities and make sure like every common people he has the right to enjoy freedom and at the same time go after his ultimate passions and makes choices.
I find the journey of David reflects the importance of employment to facilitate independency, a belonging sense and self esteem. When he used to work at Woolworths organisation, the relevant opportunities have been experienced by him just like his co-employees. This has helped to facilitating his success as well as strengthening his place firmly within the community. Additionally, it has been an astonishing moment for me to observe the positive impact provided by meaningful employment on the life of David (ODonovan, 2018). Thereafter, the constant determination of David to supporting other people as well as acknowledging his aspirations to build an effective and successful future can be considered very much inspiring.
Witnessing the authors self belief and confidence resounded thoroughly within me and it reminded me regarding the effectiveness to embrace our individual capabilities. This also includes not letting any labels of the society that restrict out potential. Altogether, this resilience and empowerment moments that I noticed in the story even highlighted my emotional feelings as well as developed a connection sense with Davids point-of-view towards life (Shields & Hesbol, 2019). The eye celebrated and acknowledged his attendance together with him. There was another impactful situation I remember when David shared his work experiences at Woolworths.
I feel the enthusiasm the story teller had for his job role at the company as well as the identification attained for his extraordinary services to customers had put an everlasting impression on me as well as other readers. This aspect related with my individual experiences due to the fact that I noticed works transformative power in facilitating self-esteem along with influencing a belonging sense. In addition, the kind of recognition that David obtained from Belonging Matters specifically for his extraordinary performance as well as gaining the opportunity for sharing his story for producing the film clip can be considered highly inspirational (Holowko, 2024).
