Assessment Task 2:Case Study on Differentiation
CRITICAL TASK
Report on a case study into the needs of a selected learner requiring
differentiated teaching, learning and
assessment planning to provide support
for their participation and achievement in learning activities.
Assessment Task 2 requirements
The scenario
You have accepted a full-time, very-well paid, teaching position in one of the nominated schools and are responsible for liaising with teachers and service providers to offer high quality inclusive practice for the schools students.
The purpose
The report will be used as apart of the schools website to inform the parent and local community of how the school manages differentiation within a rural location.
The task
Develop a factual report on
Firstly, the facilities, projects, programs, co-curricular activities and curriculum of the school and its local, neighbourhood community that will support your selected student
Secondly, how the school (facilities, projects, programs, co-curricular activities and curriculum) has differentiated its teaching offering, learning environment/activities and assessment (with explicit reference to a SMART goal) for the select student.
Thirdly, to demonstrate the differentiating of teaching/learning strategies and assessment (internal and external assessments) choose either Literacy or Numeracy or a particular KLA to frame the differentiation.
Structure the portfolio with the Rolfe et al writing model which is designed to pinpoint the issue (what), argue for and against the issue (so what) and evaluate the argument in terms of recommendations for action (now what).
The task has 3 sections (What 1?; What 2?; So What ?; Now What?) There are 4 x parts in total because What? has 2 x parts. In total the report is between 1800-2000 words. Each part is maximum 500 words and must demonstrate research through use of intext citations of recent (2019+) academic articles.

Yu-Arts parents were killed in an automobile accident almost two years ago. Although not in the car at the time, Yu-Art has behaviours typical of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. As part of post trauma management, Yu-Art has been assigned a psychologist, speech therapist and a behaviour therapist to remediate the acting-out behaviours. However, Yu-Art has started to refuse to attend sessions during school time as the last semester results stated Yu-Art was falling behind. Yu Art does not know what this means, but does know that it is detrimental. Yu-Art has begun to engage in self-harm behaviours during the school day ( banging fist against brick wall). The school wants to implement a positive behaviour program to improve peer social relationships.
