Conducting a Technology Audit
Technology audits empower school principals to identify strengths and weaknesses in their tech infrastructure, ensuring students have the tools they need for a modern education. By regularly auditing technology, principals optimize resource allocation, maximize security, and ensure their school stays ahead of the curve in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
In this assignment, you will use the how-to guide you created in the Module 3 assignment to conduct a technology audit at your school. Then, you will assemble your findings in a report.
Step 1
Using the how-to guide you created in the Module 3 assignment, follow evidence-based best practices to complete the technology audit using an audit checklist.
Select the principal, assistant principal, and/or the schools IT expert to serve as your guide in this process. Gather background information and insights from them regarding the schools technology needs.
Step 2
Compose a 1- to 2-page technology audit report that states the needs you noted during the facilities audit and provides an evidence-based, in-depth rationale for what is needed and why. The report must clearly identify the resources and other supportive materials listed as background information to demonstrate collaboration occurred during the audit process. It must also align with the highest professional standards, legal compliance, and exemplary ethical behaviors.
Attach your completed technology audit checklist after the facilities audit report. The checklist is not part of the page count.
Your technology audit report should look like something created for your professional setting. Instead of an essay, your report should appear like a document you would share with decision-making stakeholders for the school. It can contain headings, subheadings, text, bullets, and other features to communicate complex information clearly. When information requires a citation, include in-text citations and a reference list.
Step 3
Proofread your work and use the assignment rubric to ensure you have met all requirements.
Submit the technology audit report and completed checklist.
